About Me: Why I Started Salty Vegan

Hi, I'm Hannah – the founder of Salty Vegan, a beachwear brand born out of a lifelong love for the ocean and a deep desire to protect it.

The sea has always been my happy place. Growing up, I spent endless summers on the beach, soaking up the sun and swimming until my skin turned salty. These days, I’m lucky enough to live right on the Kent coast, where I can see the ocean every day – and honestly, it never gets old. Whether I’m paddleboarding, wingfoiling, or simply sitting by the shore, the sea continues to fill me with awe. It’s where I feel most alive, most at peace, and most inspired.

That love for the ocean is what drives everything I do. I’ve always cared deeply about the natural world and the creatures we share it with – I’m vegan and try to live as kindly and consciously as I can. But like many of us, I’ve been heartbroken by the rising tide of pollution, especially in our oceans. The plastic, the waste, the damage – it’s overwhelming. But it’s also motivating.

That’s why I created Salty Vegan – a sustainable beachwear brand for people who love the ocean and want to help protect it. Wherever possible, our pieces are made using recycled ocean plastics and eco-conscious materials, in partnership with amazing manufacturers who share our values. This is activewear for those who feel at home in the sea, who want to live lighter, and who care as deeply as I do about preserving our blue planet.
