Our commitment to protecting the oceans we love
At SaltyVegan, the ocean is at the heart of everything we do. It inspires our designs, shapes our values, and grounds the brand in something bigger than clothing. When I started SaltyVegan, I wanted it to be more than just apparel - I wanted it to become a community of people who love the sea, choose more consciously, and believe in protecting the places that make us feel alive.
That’s why I’m so proud to share that 50p from every item sold in our watersports design range is donated to Surfers Against Sewage via Work for Good.
All donations are made through the platform Work for Good, which helps small businesses support charities properly and transparently.
This isn’t just a donation; it’s a meaningful part of our mission to give back and take action for our coastlines.
Why Surfers Against Sewage is the perfect partner
Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) are a charity I’ve admired for years. Their work goes far beyond surfing - they’re one of the UK’s most passionate environmental voices, campaigning for cleaner seas, healthier beaches, and stronger protections for marine life.
Their mission aligns perfectly with what we believe in as a brand:
- Protecting the oceans that inspire us
- Challenging pollution and environmental harm
- Empowering communities to make change
- Encouraging sustainable, ocean-friendly living
When our watersports range celebrates the joy of being in the sea, it only feels right that each purchase supports efforts to keep those waters clean and thriving.
My personal connection with SAS
My support for Surfers Against Sewage didn’t start with SaltyVegan - it actually began through my day job as a filmmaker and storyteller.
I’ve had the privilege of working with SAS in the past, helping to share their message by recording a podcast episode with them for the Green on the Go podcast and also filming their Sick of Sewage (SOS) protests in Kent, capturing the power of communities demanding cleaner, safer seas.
Those moments left a real impact on me. Being behind the camera, watching people unite for the ocean they love, made me realise how deeply connected we all are to our coastlines - and how important it is to protect them.
So when it came to choosing a charity partner for SaltyVegan, the choice felt natural. This is a cause I believe in personally, and one that aligns beautifully with the values of our growing community.
What your purchase supports
When you buy from our watersports design range, you’re helping support:
- Beach cleans across the UK
- Water quality and pollution monitoring
- Community action groups
- Environmental education
- Campaigns for stronger ocean protection
Every item makes a difference, and together, we’re helping protect the places we all love to be salty.
Looking ahead
SaltyVegan may have started with just me, packing orders and dreaming big, but it’s already becoming something more - a community, a movement, and a brand with purpose.
Supporting Surfers Against Sewage is only the beginning. As we grow, so will our impact. I’m working towards creating a line made from recycled ocean plastics too - it’s a more complex (and much more expensive!) journey than I first expected, but it’s something I’m determined to make happen.
Thank you for being here, supporting small business, and helping protect our oceans with every salty purchase.
Surfers Against Sewage is a grassroots environmental charity that campaigns to protect the ocean and all it makes possible. It was created in 1990 by a group of Cornish surfers, fighting to clean up the sea that was making them sick. Now, Surfers Against Sewage campaigns on all that threatens the ocean - plastic pollution, the climate emergency, industrial exploitation and water quality – by taking action on the ground that triggers change from the top.
